Lady Lions drop final two matches at Abilene Bev Ball Classic

Miranda Northcutt (7) and the Brownwood girls (1-5) are back in action at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Lampasas.

ABILENE – The Brownwood Lady Lions returned to action at the Bev Ball Classic volleyball tournament Saturday, dropping their final two matches of the weekend.

The Lady Lions began Saturday’s action against District 6-4A rival Mineral Wells, where they won the first set before dropping the match, 22-25, 25-18, 25-18.

Leading the way offensively for Brownwood were Aubrie Felux with six kills followed by Miranda Northcutt with four, Trinity Roberts and Icess Hall with three each, Aniah Hines with two, and Jentry Coalson with one.

Hines dished out eight assists and Hall contributed seven, while Hines also tallied two aces and Maddi Scott and Inylah Hall served one apiece.

Defensively, Scott’s 11 digs were a team-best trailed by six each from Felux and Coalson, four from Northcutt, three from Roberts, two from Icess Hall and one each from Hines and Peyton Pena.

Hines registered five blocks at the net and Felux added one.

Brownwood later suffered a 25-22, 25-10 loss at the hands of Clyde.

On the offensive end, Felux chalked up six kills followed by Hines and Demayha Hooker with two apiece and Northcutt with one.

Icess Hall distributed four assists, Hines tallied three and Scott recorded one. Roberts and Felux recorded Brownwood’s aces.

Defensively, Inylah Hall led the way with eight digs trailed by Felux and Scott with four each, Hines with two, and Alivia Eanes, Icess Hall, Coalson, Northcutt, and Roberts with one apiece.

At the net, Northcutt tallied Brownwood’s lone block.

The Lady Lions (1-5) are back in action at 6 p.m. Tuesday as they visit Lampasas.
