Edna Mae Thomas was a cherished wife, mother, and homemaker whose presence brought warmth and love to all those around her, passed away on August 3, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength.

Born on December 27, 1939, in Coleman, Texas, Edna’s journey was one marked by grace and devotion. She dedicated her life to her family and found joy in the simple pleasures of reading and solving crossword puzzles. Her nurturing spirit shone through as she raised her three boys with love and care.

One of Edna’s proudest accomplishments was her marriage to Johnie George Thomas on August 25, 1957, in Coleman. Together, they built a life filled with love and shared memories that will forever be treasured.

In her passing, Edna is reunited with her beloved husband, Johnie George Thomas, her parents Sherman McWhirter and Lois Vivian Ford McWhirter, as well as her siblings Ronald McWhirter and Garnalee Traylor. While we mourn their loss, we take solace in knowing they are together once more.

Edna leaves behind a beautiful tapestry of memories for her surviving family and friends to cherish. She is survived by her loving children Johnie Edwin Thomas of Snyder, Martin Thomas and wife Elaine of Ovalo, and Russel D. Thomas and wife Angela of Snyder; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Their lives were enriched by Edna’s love and wisdom, which will continue to guide them in the years to come.

The family will host a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends are invited to a funeral service celebrating her remarkable life at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. A private interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

Edna may have left this world physically, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace knowing that she was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

We invite you to share fond memories and words of comfort and condolence with the Thomas family by signing the guestbook on Edna’s tribute page at www.stevensfuneralhome.com. Stevens Funeral Home is honored to serve the Thomas family.
