Ruphina Ynez Hopson, 87, of Coleman, passed away on June 29, 2024, in Coleman. She was born on December 10, 1936, in Junction, Texas, to her parents Robert Dalton “Shorty” Powell and Lilly Lorene Richardson Powell.

Ruphina led a fulfilling life where she worked tirelessly as a waitress and later as an aide at local nursing homes. Her dedication to serving others was unparalleled, and her warmth and kindness touched the lives of many. Ruphina’s education was rooted in Junction, where she grew up and attended school, shaping her into the compassionate individual she became.

Known for her vibrant personality, Ruphina never met a stranger. She had a special gift for connecting with people, making everyone feel welcome in her presence. Outside of work, she enjoyed leisurely walks around town, often striking up conversations with passersby and forming lasting friendships along the way.

In her passing, Ruphina is reunited with her parents and siblings: Alvin, Robert, Sam, Mildred, and Doris, as well as two grandchildren. She is survived by her children Lily Hopson of Coleman, Wayne Hopson of Coleman, Wesley Hopson of Coleman, Winston Hopson of Coleman, Lisa Anderson and husband Billy of Coleman, Wyatt Hopson of Robert Lee; as well as 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and former daughter-in-law Becky.

Ruphina Hopson’s legacy of compassion and generosity will continue to live on through the memories shared by those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to be touched by her love and kindness.

A memorial service to celebrate Ruphina’s life will be held at later date. Family and friends are invited to share memories and offer condolences on Ruphina’s tribute page at www.stevensfuneralhome.com. Stevens Funeral Home is honored to serve the Hopson family.
