Ronnie Lee Horton, age 75 of Brownwood, Texas, was called home to be with our Lord Jesus on June 28, 2024.  Services will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the Rocky Creek Baptist Church just outside of Brownwood, Texas. Visitation will be in the church at 1:00 PM just prior to the funeral service at 2:00 PM with interment to follow in the Rocky Creek Cemetery.

Ronnie was born on October 1, 1948, in Brownwood, Texas to Leman Andrew Horton and Frances Cozart Horton. After graduating from Bangs High School in 1967, Ron earned a bachelor’s degree from Howard Payne University.  Subsequently, he earned his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

Ron was blessed to serve as pastor for over 41 years in Texas: Big Valley Baptist Church, Goldthwaite; County Line Baptist Church, Athens; First Baptist Church, Hamilton; First Baptist Church, Cleburne; and Parkdale Baptist Church, Corpus Christi.  Ron later served as Director of Missions for Creath-Brazos Baptist Association in College Station.  Upon retirement, Ron returned to his childhood farm with Nancy, and he continued to serve as a supply pastor in nearby churches and as interim pastor in Brownwood.

After 5 wonderful years at the farm, Ron and Nancy made the decision to move to Parsons House Assisted Living in Dallas to the to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren.  Even while a resident at Parsons House, Ron led a Bible study group with Nancy for his fellow residents.  Ron passed away peacefully surrounded by his devoted wife and three daughters.

He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Nancy Trent Horton; daughter Rebecca Horton Franke and her husband Richard Franke, Jr.; Rhonda Kaye Horton; Rachel Horton Haas and her husband Ryan Haas; grandchildren Elizabeth Franke, Richard Franke III, Lauren Haas, Michael Haas, and Matthew Haas.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Leman Andrew Horton and Frances Cozart Horton; and sister Ramona Frances Horton.
