The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Friday afternoon:

On Thursday, June 27, 2024, at approximately 9 a.m., officers received a phone call request to report a possible sexual assault.

The caller reported that a juvenile female family member made an outcry of sexual abuse committed by another family member. The detailed information was provided to the Criminal Investigations Division who immediately opened an investigation, along with our local office of Child Protective Services.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., the juvenile victim was located and interviewed.  The adult male suspect, 33-year-old Jerry Alexander Curry of Brownwood, was also located and met with detectives at the Brownwood Law Enforcement Center.

At approximately 4 p.m., Curry was arrested and booked into the Brown County Jail on a charge of Sexual Assault of a Child / Forcible Rape. Bond was set at $100,000.
