City of Brownwood Director of Finance Melanie Larose presents the budgetary report during Tuesday’s meeting.

During Tuesday morning’s meeting, the Brownwood City Council unanimously authorized City Manager Emily Crawford to solicit proposals for professional auditing services.

Current auditor for the City of Brownwood, Tony Krischke, has retired and will no longer be available. The City is looking to expedite the process to maintain a timely audit schedule.

“This is the first step in the process of what will probably be a several month endeavor,” City of Brownwood Director of Finance Melanie Larose told the Council. “I’m not sure that we’re going to find someone locally so (Krischke) is going to assist me in the process a little bit and has already helped me review the RFP I almost have prepared.”

Larose later presented the budgetary report at the two-thirds mark of the fiscal year.

Also during the meeting, Crawford presented Brownwood Fire Chief Eric Hicks a “challenge coin” she received from the City Manager of Borger at the Texas City Management Conference for the BFD’s response to assist with the Windy Deuce wildfire back in March,

Following an executive session, the Council voted to approve settlements with property owners at 2514 Good Shepard and 2516 Good Shepard for damages.

The City Manager’s annual evaluation also took place during the executive session.
