The third annual Howard Payne University North Texas Alumni Golf Tournament was held on Monday, June 17, at Cowboys Golf Club in Grapevine. Alumni and friends enjoyed an opportunity to network and connect with each other while raising money for student scholarships. The event was presented by the HPU Former Players Association, lunch was sponsored by CapinCrouse LLP, prizes were sponsored by WRA Architects and this year’s presenting sponsor was Brasher & Co.

The first-place team included Kevin Crawford, Kolton Crawford, Dr. Dale Meinecke and Jeff Mitchell. Second-place honors went to Ernest Day, Bob Knoll, Matt Day and Rudy Moreno. In third place was the team of Jordan Dial, Michael Holmberg, Steve Shaffer and Robert Rich.

Randy Lewallyn, a 1997 HPU graduate who chaired the event, expressed his appreciation to all who participated.

“We are thrilled with the success of the 3rd Annual Howard Payne University North Texas Alumni Golf Tournament,” said Lewallyn. “It was a fantastic day at the Cowboys Golf Club, where 120 players plus volunteers gathered to connect with fellow alums and friends while supporting the HPU Scholarship Fund. Our alumni community showed up big again this year, generously contributing to Howard Payne University students. Sincere thanks to all participants, sponsors and volunteers for making this event a resounding success.”

Hole sponsors included Bruner Auto Group; FM; Grooms Seed; Dr. and Mrs. Cory Hines; HPU Admissions; HPU Advancement; HPU Alumni Association, iteach, Jacket Century, Rozell Ranch and WCA Construction.

Yellow Jacket sponsors included Airgroup; Brain & Behavior Associates; Brock Flex, LLC; Dr. John Cole; First Baptist Burleson; GuideStone Financial Resources; Randy Lewallyn & Todd Roby; Dr. Dale and Mrs. Christy Meinecke; Northwood Church; Pronto Solutions, Inc.; RFS Sports; Robert & Gerrie Knoll Foundation; Mr. Mike and Mrs. Jane Rodgers; Squirrels; Texas Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company; Texas Mortgage Lending; Thunder Men; Dr. Darryl White; and Willie’s T’s.
