Nancy Yvonne Helms, passed away at the age of 71 in Abilene, Texas at Hendrick Medical Center. Nancy was born on January 24, 1953, in Coleman, Texas, to her loving parents A.C. “Dago” Alexander and Vivian McCullough Alexander Waits.

Throughout her life, Nancy made meaningful contributions through her work as a bookkeeper at various establishments including Coleman County Medical Center, J.E. Stevens Hardware, and Coleman Veterinary Clinic. She was known for her unwavering commitment to her duties.

Aside from her professional endeavors, Nancy had a passion for cooking and baking. She took boundless joy in preparing homemade cookies which she always kept stocked in the freezer, ready to be enjoyed by family and friends. Family held a special place in Nancy’s heart, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her enthusiasm for engaging in activities with loved ones was evident, especially during spirited games of Yahtzee where her excitement would resonate throughout the room.

In her spare time, Nancy found solace tending to her meticulous flower beds and engaging in yard work. She also readily helped on the ranch whenever needed, highlighting her reliability and readiness to lend a helping hand.

Nancy’s love for animals shone brightly as she had a penchant for adopting stray dogs that crossed her path. Her compassion extended beyond humans, demonstrating her kind and nurturing spirit towards all beings.

Nancy will be deeply missed by her long-time partner and companion, Ed “Cotton” Sultemeier of Rockwood; daughter Tanya Fulbright and husband Reece of Coleman; grandchildren Townes Fulbright and Breckin Fulbright; step-children Allysa Sultemeier and Nicole Sultemeier; step-grandchildren Michael “Buddy” Hernandez, Heavyn Davis, Daitin Sultemeier, Presley Sultemeier, Elijah Calvin, Adalynn Calvin, Maheyli Lemons; as well as nieces and cousins. She is also survived by many extended family members who held a special place in her heart.

A visitation to honor Nancy’s memory will take place at Stevens Funeral Home on June 7th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by additional visitation on June 8th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will then be held on June 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street in Coleman, with Bro. David McLean officiating.  Burial will be in the Rockwood Cemetery.
