The Brownwood Lions will compete in their second of three 7-on-7 Division II state qualifying tournaments as they host their own at Brownwood High School.
The Lions, who are coming off a 2-1 record at last week’s Mineral Wells tournament, will be attempting to advance to the 7-on-7 state tournament – set for June 27-28 at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex in College Station – for the 24th year in a row.
The Lions are positioned in Pool A and will face Whitney, San Angelo Lake View and Andrews at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and noon on the track field at the high school.
The winner of Pool A will face the winner of Pool C, which is comprised of Graham – which has already qualified for state and can’t advance past pool play – Benbrook, Clyde and a second Brownwood squad. Those games will also be played at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and noon on the soccer field.
The semifinals will be held at 1:45 p.m. on the track field.
The other two pools are comprised of Ponder, Mineral Wells, Grapevine Faith and Midland Christian and Pool B, along with Decatur, Comanche, McGregor and Jim Ned in Pool D. Those two pool winners will also meet at 1:45 p.m. for the second of two state berths to come out of the Brownwood qualifier.
