SAN ANTONIO – Zephyr High School was represented in a pair of draws at the UIL Class A Tennis State Tournament at the Blossom Center here Thursday, but their postseason runs in the quarterfinal round.

Two-time Region III-A girls singles champion Haley Eason, a junior, dropped her first and only match of the season in the state quarterfinals against Jayton’s Daylee Chisum.

Eason rallied to capture the first set, 6-4, despite trailing 3-0 out of the gate. But Chisum captured the final two sets of the match, 6-0 and 6-2, to end Eason’s postseason run.

The Region III-A boys doubles runners-up of junior Ethan Byers and freshman CJ Byers also fell in the quarterfinals, 6-0 and 7-6 [6], to the tandem of Bryson Brockman and Creed Hochstein of Nazareth. The Byers boys were making their first state tournament appearance.
