May Sales Taxes Up in Brownwood & Bangs, Down in Early

Sales tax allocations for the month of May were released this week by the Texas Comptroller’s Office.  Allocations for the Cities of Brownwood and Bangs were up slightly, while the allocation for the City of Early was down, compared to a year ago.  Sales tax allocations in May reflect taxable retail sales in March 2024.  Details below.

CITY OF BROWNWOOD

The City of Brownwood received $705,144 in May, up 1.01% over May 2023.  Fiscal year-to-date (October 2023 – May 2024) Brownwood has received $4,751,429, down 1.40% compared to the previous fiscal year-to-date.

The Brownwood Municipal Development District received $221,844 in May, up 1.02% over May 2023.  Fiscal year-to-date the Brownwood MDD has received $1,546,773, down 0.34% compared to the previous fiscal year-to-date.

CITY OF EARLY

The City of Early received $191,210 in May, down 20.77% from May 2023.  Fiscal year-to-date Early has received $1,642,867, down 9.70% from the previous fiscal year-to-date.

The Early Municipal Development District received $61,150 in May, down 21.45% from May 2023.  Fiscal year-to-date the Early MDD has received $534,354, down 10.15% from the previous fiscal year-to-date.

CITY OF BANGS

The City of Bangs received $25,041 in May, up 3.27% vs. May 2023.  Fiscal year-to-date Bangs has received $175,678, an increase of 6.18% over the previous fiscal year-to-date.

The Bangs Municipal Development District received $3,158 in May, up 6.08 over May 2023.  Fiscal year-to-date the Bangs MDD has received $25,079, an increase of 4.79% over the previous fiscal year-to-date.
