AUSTIN – With the 2024 Class 2A boys golf individual state championship already in the trophy case, Goldthwaite is looking to add the girls title as well as Lady Eagle Hope Hermesmeyer leads at the midway point of the UIL Class 2A Girls Golf State Tournament at Lions Municipal Golf Course.

Hermesmeyer shot a round of 73 Monday and owns a two-stroke advantage over Avery Burns of Mason (75) and a three-shot edge over Maggie Yarbrough of Muenster (76) with 18 holes to play Tuesday.

Goldthwaite Eagle freshman Walt Thompson won the 2A boys individual state championship by one stroke with a 36-hole total of 144 last week at the same course.

As a team, the Lady Eagles carded a 393 composite score which leaves them in fifth place behind Mason (326), Crawford (368), Wink (386) and Shiner (392).

Along with Hermesmeyer’s effort, Goldthwaite received a 100 from Lanna Gore, a 103 from Abigail Patrick, a 117 from Rani House, and a 126 from Addison Lee.

Meanwhile, San Saba’s Cinzlea Stanton is tied for eighth place at the tournament with a round of 84, the same score shot by Lipan’s Hanna Gaylor.
