ABILENE – The Brownwood Lady Lions and Lions combined to send 23 entrants to the Region I-4A meet at Lowrey Field in Lubbock April 19-20, as the Lady Lions won the 5-4A/6-4A area meet team championship and the Lions placed second Friday at the Abilene ISD Annex.

The Lady Lions earned 10 medals – six gold, two silver and two bronze – and secured 11 spots in the Lubbock field. Brownwood amassed 117 points while Graham and Stephenville tied for second with 81 points.

Meanwhile, the Lions are bringing home nine medals – five gold, two silver and a pair of bronze – while clinching 12 regional berths. Brownwood produced 112 points, which trailed only the 159 of Stephenville.

Leading the charge for the Lady Lions was Sidney Windham who finished first in both the 800 meters (2:22.69) and 1600 meters (2:22.69). The Lions’ effort was sparked by Ike Hall’s two gold-medal performances in the long jump (22-6) and triple jump (46-9.25).

Windham was also a member of the area champion 4×400 relay with Kate Tindol, Kaya Phillips,  and Braycee Lee (4:07.84), and Hall was part of the area champion 4×100 relay with Raven Prado, Caven Webster and Aaron Edmonds (42.8). Hall is also moving on the high jump (6-2), where he placed fourth.
