Brownwood High School graduate Shelby Miller is now 3-0 on the season as he picked up another victory in relief Tuesday night for the Detroit Tigers, who downed the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5-3.

Miller pitched a flawless bottom of the eighth inning, and the Tigers scored four runs in the top of the ninth to complete the comeback and snap a four-game losing streak.

Miller has not allowed a run in five appearances this season, pitching seven innings with six strikeouts and two walks.

Miller, 33, now owns a 44-58 record in 12 seasons with one save and a 4.05 ERA in 208 games, including 133 starts, and 827 innings pitched. Miller has struck out 692 batters and walked 333.

Miller signed with the Tigers (7-4) in the offseason – the ninth team of his career along with the St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves, Arizona Diamondbacks, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Francisco Giants, and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Miller made his MLB debut on September 5, 2012 with St. Louis.

On May 11, 2013, Miller tossed a one-hitter with the Cardinals, retiring the final 27 Colorado Rockies batters in a row after yielding a lead-off single. Miller notched 13 strikeouts in the contest.

Miller appeared in the 2015 All-Star Game as a member of the Braves, as he posted a 3.02 ERA in 33 starts with a 6-17 record. Miller was one out away from recording a no-hitter against the Florida Marlins on May 17, 2015.
