Lady Dragons, Dragons combine for 13 regional track berths

BANGS – The Bangs Lady Dragons and Dragons combined to earn 13 berths in the Region I-2A track and field meet based on their performances at the 7-2A/8-2A area meet Wednesday at Memorial Stadium.

The Lady Dragons secured eight spots in the regional field, including five for Kasey Solis who won the long jump (17-2.75), was part of the winning 4×100 relay with Raylee Hutchins, Valerie Razo and Abby Wolf (50.85), and came in second in the 100 meters (12.6), 200 meters (26.44) and triple jump (35-0).

Also moving on for the Lady Dragons are Mattisyn Taylor, who placed second in the discus (100-7); Julia Scantling, who came in third in the 100-meter hurdles (17.4); and Abby Wolf, who placed fourth in the long jump (16-3.5).

The Dragons locked up five regional berths, led by Kenny Cole who finished first in the 110-meter hurdles (16.32) and third in the 300-meter hurdles (41.2).

Also punching regional tickets were the second-place 4×200 relay of Kade Minshew, Hunter Newton, Hunter Hudnall and Aden Jones (1:35.13), and fourth-place performers Ryan Dickey in the 400 meters (55.76) and Hunter Hudnall in the long jump (19-6).

The Lady Dragons finished third in the team standings with 73 points behind Ozona (122) and Coleman (79). The Dragons came in sixth with 48 points which trailed Reagan County (128), Sonora (82), Coleman (53), Miles (52) and Eldorado (51).

The Region I-2A meet will take place at West Texas A&M in Canyon April 19-20.
