The Brown County Museum of History will present author Thomas Goodman, giving details about his writing of “The Last Man,” a novel based on the true story of the Santa Claus Bank Robbery in neighboring Eastland County.

“Books have been written about the infamous robbery and the men pulling the heist dressed as Santa Claus, but I wanted to go deeper and tell the rest of the story,” Goodman notes. “There was so much more that came after the robbery and the lynching—it inspired me to write this book. It’s a story of human error and redemption.”

With this first novel Goodman won the prestigious Spur Award, given by the Western Writers of America for outstanding literature. “We are so pleased to present this impressive author as part of the Museum’s ongoing programs,” stated Jane Rodgers, one of the event planners instrumental in bringing Goodman to Brownwood.

The public is invited to come for a casual evening to meet and talk with the author and learn more about how he developed the idea to write this book. Coffee, charcuterie and cookies will be served. Books and autographs available.
