Gary Bruce Sherrill

Gary Bruce Sherrill age 79 of Brownwood passed away on March 23, 2024 in The Woodlands. His family will host a visitation on Wednesday, March 27th from 6 to 8 PM at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Funeral services will be held 2 PM on Thursday, March 28th at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early.

Gary was born on January 16, 1945 in Amherst, Texas to Stephen Leon Sherrill and Macca Louise Mayfield Sherrill. He graduated from Amherst High School and attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Gary married Dian Oberlechner on December 26, 1975 in Amherst. He went on to work for USPS as a rural route carrier, driving over one million miles when he retired. Gary was in the Army Reserves. He enjoyed wood working, building and racing boats, and camping in Texas and New Mexico, but most of all he loved his children and grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his wife, Dian Oberlechner Sherrill; sons, Todd Sherrill and Dr. Michael Holliday, Timmy Sherrill and wife Tonya; brother, Richard Sherrill; grandchildren, Keegan Sherrill, Leila Sherrill, Jaxxson Holliday and Marshall Sherrill and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Billy Sherrill and Del Roy Sherrill.
