Rene Allison, a beloved homemaker known for her delicious baked goods, passed away in Austin on March 9, 2024. She was born Mary Hurene Hemby on July 8, 1933, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, to Hugh Hemby and Susie Pittman Hemby.  Rene grew up in Oklahoma and New Mexico.  On May 14, 1948, Rene married Dale Allison in Lovington, New Mexico.  Rene spent many years living in Odessa before moving to Lake Coleman in 1987 when Dale retired.

Rene brought joy to those around her with her skills in the kitchen and her knack for entertaining friends and family with games of cards and dominoes.  Following the passing of her husband, she relocated to be closer to family.

Preceding Rene in death are two daughters, Sandy Smith, Deborah Delnegro; one son, Larry Allison and two grandsons, Robby Allison and Larry Bishop.

Mary is survived by a daughter, Kay Bishop of Giddings and a son, Buddy Allison of Odessa. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

A funeral service to celebrate Rene’s life will be held at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street in Coleman on March 13, 2024, at 4:00 pm.  Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

May her memory live on in the hearts of those who knew her as they gather to honor her life and legacy at her funeral service and burial ceremony.  Condolences and remembrances may be left for the family on Rene’s tribute page at www.stevensfuneralhome.com.  Stevens Funeral Home is honored to serve the Allison family.
