Rodney ‘Dwain’ Bishop

Rodney “Dwain” Bishop, age 84, of Brownwood passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at his home.

A come and go Celebration of Life will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Dwain was born on June 8, 1939, to Davis and Lois (Lawson) Bishop. He served his country in the US Navy from 1960 – 1964. After leaving the Navy he married the love of his life, Betty June Williams, on September 25, 1964.

Dwain had a long career as a Master Electrician all over the panhandle. He was a member of the IBEW. He and June moved to Lake Brownwood in 1983. He loved fishing and was an avid woodworker. However, one of his greatest achievements was being a loving husband, father, and grandad.

Dwain is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty June Bishop of Brownwood; children, Angie Tyson and husband Brad of Brownwood, Lance Bishop of Brownwood, Drenda Coffey and husband Ray of Bertram; grandchildren, Rodney Middleton and wife Tonie of Early, Skyler Middleton of Brownwood, Ashton Petty and husband Brian of Stephenville, Amanda Carrasco and husband Christian of Austin, Kara Baker and husband Drew of San Antonio; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Reece, Brayden, Henslee, Macey, Anson, Sonny, Cameron, Avery, Riley, Cheyanne, Erin, Colton, Savannah, and Hannah; sister, Kay Dopson and husband Bob of Lubbock ; and brother, Jimmy Bishop of Frisco. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Davis and Lois; son, Jay Arant; brother, Donny Bishop; and sister, Jeannie Klopp.
