Eight Lady Lions earn all-district basketball honors

Trinity Roberts (11) was the lone superlative selection for Brownwood (20-13) as she was named Sixth Man of the Year.

Eight members of the 6-4A third seed Brownwood Lady Lions received all-district basketball accolades from the coaches of the league, which were revealed Saturday.

Leading the way for the Lady Lions was freshman Trinity Roberts, who was selected the 6-4A Sixth Man of the Year.

First-team picks for Brownwood were sophomores Icess Hall and Hannah Deen, while senior Kimber Green and junior Kate Tindol were named to the second-team. Receiving honorable mention were junior Adyson Neel, junior Miranda Northcutt and freshman Inylah Hall.

Making academic all-district for the Lady Lions were Green, Northcutt, Tindol, Neel, Deen, Roberts, Icess Hall, Inylah Hall, Olivia Ringer, Rylie Schaffer and Talia Craff.

The rest of the superlative award winners were co-MVPs Grace Booth and Aimee Flippen of Glen Rose; Offensive MVP Alexis Rynders of Glen Rose; Defensive MVP Lily Melton of Glen Rose; Newcomer of the Year Addison Treppa of Glen Rose; and Coach of the Year Ramsey Ghazal of Glen Rose.

Rounding out the first-team choices were Glen Rose’s Abigale Bunt, Jewell Morris, and Aubrey Schuelke; Mineral Wells’ Cadence Colwell; and Stephenville’s Chayni Chamberlain and Caitlyn Skiles.

Comprising the rest of the second team were Glen Rose’s BrookLynn Peterson; Graham’s Emilee Gordy; Mineral Wells’ Aniya Richardson and Kahlea Samples; and Stephenville’s Brinley Hall, Marin Copeland and Kyla Ray.

The Lady Lions finished with a 20-13 overall record, 4-4 mark in District 6-4A action and reached the playoffs for the 14th time in 15 seasons under head coach Heather Hohertz.
