FREDERICKSBURG – River Prado finished second in boys singles, while Emma Delgado and Raylei Hickey won the girls doubles consolation championship to highlight the Brownwood High tennis team’s effort at the Fredericksburg Invitational, which took place Friday and Saturday.

Results are as follows:

Boys Singles

River Prado – won 6-1, 6-1 over Carlton Schmidt of Mason; won 6-3, 6-4 over Reilly Mize of Uvalde; lost 6-3, 6-4 to Brendan Stafford of Liberty Hill in the championship match.

Aiden Oplotnik – lost 6-1, 6-0 to Ben Kenner of Kerrville; lost 6-2, 6-1 to Augustus Wegner of Fredericksburg; won over Luke Huber (withdrew due to injury); lost 6-2, 6-1 to Brigham Nixon of Liberty Hill.

Emma Delgado and Raylei Hickey – lost 7-5, 3-6 (4) to Stehling and Wegner of Fredericksburg; won 7-5, 7-6 (3) over Dube and Havelka of Uvalde; won 6-1, 6-4 over Goodwin and Hayes of Kerrville; won 7-6 (2), 2-6 (9) over McCrea and Bierschwale of Mason in the consolation championship.

Claire Meinecke and Ashlyn Bundick – lost 6-2, 6-1 to Phillips and Dube of Uvalde; won 6-3, 6-2 over Nichols and Chimal of Ingram; lost 6-2, 7-5 to McCrea and Bierschwale of Mason.

The Brownwood High tennis team is next slated to compete in the Waco Invitational on Friday, March 1.
