Kenneth Lee Vickers

Kenneth Lee Vickers, age 77, of Rising Star, passed away on February 17, 2024, at his home. Heartland Funeral Home in Early is taking care of his arrangements.

The family will hold a memorial service on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at 2:00pm at:

Leon River Cowboy Church

Eastland, Texas. 76448

Kenneth was born to Dewey and Ina Vickers on May 4, 1946, in Lubbock. He graduated from Idalou High School and then went on to attend Texas Tech University. Kenneth married his best friend, Vicky Finley Vickers, on May 26, 1988, in Abilene. Kenneth had a variety of talents; working as a horse breeder and entrepreneur all of his life. He attended the Leon River Cowboy Church in Eastland.

Kenneth loved his grandchildren deeply and loved spending time with them. He enjoyed being a rancher, his horses, running his restaurant and writing his newspaper, Buzzard Roost News.  He also raised Border Collies all of his life.  They were not just ranch dogs, they were family too.

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 35 years, Vicky Vickers; his son, Kelly and wife Tammy Vickers: daughter, Kandy and husband Aaron Craft; step children, Cody and Charity Odom, Conda and Dee Odom; grandchildren, Konnor Vickers, Erin and Trent Clark, Shelly and Steve MacKay, Clay and Kelly Raines, Colt Raines, Price Odom Trent Odom, Cierra Schulze, Roby Odom and Quirt Odom; and 9 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and good friends.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents and brothers, Charlie and Billy Vickers.
