According to a press release provided by the Texas Department of Public Safety Monday afternoon, a one-vehicle accident at 5:59 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 11 resulted in one fatality.

The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 183, south of Rising Star by 2.1 miles.

A 2020 Toyota 4-Runner SUV was traveling south on U.S. Highway 183. The roadway was wet and had patches of hail on the roadway. The driver of the vehicle lost control due to operating at an unsafe speed for the roadway conditions and drove off the west side of the roadway. The vehicle overturned numerous times coming to rest on County Road 496.

Teresa Kay Kling, 58, from Boyd, was the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, and was wearing a seat belt, according to the DPS report.
