Stars of Texas updates demonstration schedule

Art demonstrations will be a major component of the 26th Annual Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit in February at the Depot Civic & Cultural Center located at 600 E. Depot Street in Brownwood.  

The demonstrations – sponsored by TexasBank – began on February 7th from 9 AM -3 PM and will continue through the  8th, 9th and 14th, 15th and 16th and will highlight artists from around the state, showing off their artistic talents in a variety of mediums. 

“We will have a variety of art demonstrators who will be presenting their artistic skills in storm photography, pottery, gouache painting, paper flower sculptures, pour paint and more,” said Emily Hutson, Chairperson for this year’s exhibit.  “The demonstrations will be open to the public, and we will have area schools bringing students to the show as well.” 

The following artists are scheduled 9 AM -3 PM as follows:

Wednesday, Feb. 7th
–Susan Stepp – Drawing
-Paula Vaughn – Pastels
-Mike Lewis – Pottery

Thursday, Feb. 8th
-Jimmie Hudson – Watercolor on Canvas
-Robert Stacks – Woodworking
-Mike Lewis – Pottery

Friday, Feb. 9th
-RJ Barnett – Linocut Printmaking
-Molly Merck – Paper Flower Sculptures

Wednesday, Feb. 14th
-Joseph Stanley – Pour Paint
-June Musick – Gouache Portraits
-Ricky Ray – Storm Photography

Thursday, Feb. 15th
-June Musick – Gouache
-Ginger Test – Watercolor
-Tony Brown – 3D Acrylic Paintings

Friday, Feb. 16th
-Cathie Taylor – Oil Paintings
-Joseph Stanley – Pour Paint
-June Musick – Gouache Portraits

In addition, the Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit will feature artwork from across the state and will be open for viewing by the public at the Depot Civic & Cultural Center, at no charge, during the following hours:

Sunday, February 4th – Saturday, February 17th.
Sunday : 1pm-5pm
Monday – Friday : 9am-7pm
Saturday : 9am – 7pm 

Each February the Brownwood Civic and Cultural Center hosts the annual Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit. This juried exhibit runs for two weeks and culminates with the presentation of over $5,000 in prizes. The Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit was conceived in 1999 in order to showcase the newly restored Santa Fe Depot.
