Stars Of Texas Juried Art Exhibit Honors Top Artists

The Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit shared the following information Tuesday:

The Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit hosted its annual VIP reception and awards ceremony on Saturday, February, 3, 2024. Thirty-nine artists, from across the state, brought 244 pieces of art to be considered for display with 130 of those being selected for the exhibit by juror, Liz Bonham of Keller.  Fifteen of the entries were selected for awards earning prize money totaling $5,500.  

The top award, the $1,000 Dorothy Mayes Best of Show Award, sponsored by Jane Ellen Jamar, was presented to Robert Priddy of Mullin for his photograph, Santa Elena Goodness III. In describing his photograph, Priddy explained, “Afternoon light reflects around a turn of Santa Elena Canyon in Big Bend National Park creating an amazing view. The Rio Grande River, which flows through the canyon, is a favorite place for kayakers who give scale to the massive rock canyon walls.”

The Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit opened to the public on Sunday, Feb. 5. The exhibit will continue through February 17.  Hours of operation are Monday – Saturday, from 9 AM – 7 PM and Sundays from 1-5 PM with artist demonstrations Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9 AM – 3 PM.
