A graveside funeral service for Nathan Reynolds, age 81, of Brownwood, will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 6, 2024, in the Trickham Cemetery, under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5:00 until 7:00.

Mr. Reynolds passed from this life on Thursday, February 1, 2024, in Brownwood.

Nathan Clyde Reynolds was born on January 29, 1943, in Brownwood, to Clyde and Opal (Wooldridge) Reynolds.  He married Simmie Colene Talley on June 10, 1967, in Brownwood.  Their marriage lasted 49 years until Simmie’s death in 2016.  Nathan retired from both Brownwood Electric Motor Service and Brookesmith Water Supply.  In his younger years, Nathan enjoyed playing guitar, fishing, and hunting.  Later in life he became an Old West history buff, a treasure hunter with his metal detector and never missed an episode of Gunsmoke.  He loved history so much that many family vacations were spent in and around the Fort Davis Mountains whether the family wanted to go there or not.  Nathan adored his neighbors: the Swift, Tharp, and Madrid families.  Most of all he loved his family.  Every time you would leave visiting him, he would say “Tell everyone I love them!”  One of the family’s proudest moments for Nathan was on April 9, 2017, when he was baptized the same day as his grandson Matthew.  He was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church.

Nathan leaves behind a son, Travis Reynolds and his wife Pamela, a daughter, Laura Reynolds Thornhill and her fiancé Ed Kading; five grandchildren, Brittany Merritt, Ryan Reynolds, Matthew Reynolds, Weston Thornhill and Brantlee Thornhill, a sister, Beverly Bullard; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Simmie Reynolds, a brother, Gary Max Reynolds, and a great-nephew Aaron Perry.

The family requests that memorials be made in Nathan’s memory to the Corrine T. Smith Animal Center, 3016 Milam Dr, Brownwood, TX 76801.

Condolences, memories, and tributes can be offered to the Reynolds family online at heartlandfuneralhome.com
