HPU tennis starts season at A&M Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI – The Howard Payne University women’s tennis team opened up spring 2024 action on the road in a double header versus Division-I opponent Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The Lady Jackets dropped match one 6-0 and match two 5-0.
 
Match One
HPU opened up the day with doubles dropping all three matches to the Islanders.
 
The Lady Jackets dropped all five matches in the singles division losing the match 6-0.
 
Match Two
Howard Payne lost straight sets in match two losing 5-0.
 
The Lady Jackets will be back in action on Friday as they take on Texas Wesleyan in Arlington, Texas. HPU will host their first home match of the spring with Concordia (TX) coming into town on Saturday.

The Howard Payne University men’s tennis team opened up spring 2024 action on the road in a doubleheader versus Division-I Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The Yellow Jackets lost both matches 6-0 and 5-0.

Match One
The Yellow Jackets opened up match one dropping all three doubles matches 6-1, 6-2, and by default. HPU boasted their highest doubles score in the number two spot led by Landon Ferree and Riley Harker.

Howard Payne fell in all five of their singles matches as well. Sebastian Soria and Nicolas Gates posted the highest scores for HPU in the number two (6-1) and three spot (6-1). The Yellow Jackets would drop match one 6-0.

Match Two
The Yellow Jackets fell in all five of their singles matches with HPU scoring in every match. Howard Payne would lose 5-0.

HPU will be back in action this weekend as they travel to Arlington, Texas to take on Texas Wesleyan on Friday. The Yellow Jackets will play their first home match of the spring season on Saturday as they host conference opponent Concordia (TX).
