The Texas Department of Public Safety issued the following information regarding a two-vehicle accident that took place at 11:10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 28 on Interstate 20, seven miles east of Baird.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2017 Freightliner, Cascadia truck tractor, towing 2016 Hyundai, Translead semi-trailer was stopped and parked on the improved shoulder of Interstate 20 of the westbound traffic lanes 7 miles east of Baird. A 2011 Freightliner, Cascadia truck tractor, towing 2013 Reitnouer, flatbed semi-trailer was traveling west on IH-20 approaching the 2017 Freightliner, which was stopped and disabled, and the driver of the vehicle was outside attempting to repair the engine. The driver of the 2011 Freightliner failed to drive in a single lane side swiping the 2017 Freightliner and striking the driver, who was outside and killed in the collision.

The deceased was identified as 43-year-old Yan Broytman of Frisco.
