Kurt Charles Culverhouse

Kurt Charles Culverhouse, age 60, of Lake Brownwood, Texas, left this earth for a better place on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. He died in his home surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Kurt was born August 19, 1963, in Anaheim, California, to Charles Cuvie Culverhouse and Evelyn Culverhouse (Merrifield). He moved to Texas, his parents’ birth place, at the age of 9, and attended Brownwood and later Bangs school districts. He was active in basketball, baseball, chess club, and graduated from Bangs High School.

Kurt moved to South Padre Island where he met and married the love of his life Pamela Ponds. While living in Padre Island he and his partner Eub started a remodeling business. Kurt was also a gifted musician, he would sing and play his guitar all around the Island.

Kurt is survived by his mother, Evelyn Merrifield of Lake Brownwood, Texas; two sons, Brandon Culverhouse of Brownwood, Texas, and Kris Culverhouse and wife Brittany of Early, Texas; two grandchildren, Atlas Culverhouse and Elena Culverhouse; one adopted grandchild Willow Hinkle; two sisters, Cindy Crawford and husband Robert of Brownwood, Texas, and Ginger Kay Culverhouse of Anaheim, California; brother, Charles “Chucky” Culverhouse of Boise, Idoho; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends from Brown County, Dallas, Georgetown and South Padre Island.

Kurt was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Ponds; father, Chuck Culverhouse; and step-father, Ronnie Merrifield.

“Bound in heaven, that’s where he is.”
