Jody Sledge

Jody Sledge, age 75 of Rising Star formerly of Kermit, passed away Friday, January 12, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.

Funeral services for Jody Sledge will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel of Brownwood with Terry Simmons officiating. Interment will be private.

Jody was born on June 1, 1948, in Brownwood, Texas to Marcell and Jo (Norris) Sledge. He partnered with his brother in Sledge Brothers oil and gas company in Kermit. Jody married the love of his life Susie Rollins on July 28, 1968.

Jody is survived by his wife of 55 years, Susie of Rising Star; 2 daughters, Marcie Dewell and husband Roger of May and Julie McNutt and husband James all of May; Grandchildren, Jordan Sledge and wife Kayla, Megan Guin and husband Jason, J.T. Dewell, Luke Williams, and Colton Snell; 3 great-grandchildren, Hailey Sledge, McKenna Sledge, and Miles Sledge; mother, Jo Sledge of Rising Star; Brother, Mark Sledge and wife Janet of Rising Star. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Marcell Sledge.

The family would like to give special thanks to Lainey Hall, Lisa Fuller and Kinder Hearts Hospice.
