In the final outing before the start of District 6-4A basketball action, the Brownwood Lions were dealt a 74-61 home defeat by Class A No. 2 Jayton Tuesday afternoon at Warren Gym.

Brownwood trailed 27-20 after one quarter, 46-34 at halftime, and 61-43 through three periods.

Leading the charge offensively were Casey Freibel with 25 points followed by Morsello Hooker with 10, Hayden Noe and Carson Noe with eight apiece, Weston Wolf with five, and Ross Strasner with four points.

The Lions (10-16) tip off the 6-4A slate at 7:15 p.m. Friday at Graham.
