The Texas Department of Public Safety issued the following press release late Monday:

On Monday, December 25, 2023, the Coleman County Sheriff’s Department, assisted by officers of the Coleman Police Department, engaged in a pursuit which had originated from a call of suspicious activity in southern Coleman County, during which a firearm had been displayed.  The suspect fled the scene and pursuit was initiated which progressed through the City of Coleman. 

The suspect was stopped on US Hwy 84 several miles north of the City of Coleman.  Officers at the scene discharged their weapons in response to a threat, striking the suspect.  The suspect was transported by helicopter from the scene for emergency medical treatment. 

This incident is currently under investigation by the Texas Ranger Division of the Texas Department of Public Safety.
