Coach Mel Maxfield 2024 THSCA Hall of Honor Inductee

Bangs ISD issued the following press release Wednesday:

Texas coaching legend and former Bangs Dragons coach, Mel Maxfield, will be inducted into the THSCA Hall of Honor Class of 2024. Coach Mel Maxfield will always be remembered as a premier coach in Texas and the coach who adapted the Wing-T offense.

Coach Maxfield accumulated over 250 wins in his career, won numerous Coach of the Year awards and was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in 2016.

Coach Maxfield spent his final years of coaching and life as a Bangs Dragon and we are honored and proud to have had him as part of our family. He passed away Dec. 11, 2022.
