David Mitchell Seals, 87, of Meadowlakes, formerly of Alpine and Brownwood, Texas went to his heavenly home Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Granite Mesa Health Center in Marble Falls, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Reba Cross Seals and three sons, Greg (Kathy), of Spring, Geoff (Jill,) and Gary (Cyndi,) of San Antonio, as well as stepchildren, Justin (Lori,) Stuart (Linda,) and Kimberley (Max Johnson.) His grandchildren are Kelsey, Kaitie, and Travis. Step–grandchildren are Jarrod, Andrew, Sierra, Josh, Lacey, Logan, and Mikayla. David was also proud to claim 5 great–grandchildren.

David was born in Cisco, Texas to Ella (Martin) and Lowell Seals. He was a proud graduate of Reagan County High School in Big Lake, Texas, and attended Uvalde Junior College and University of North Texas. He married Peggy Jane Cheney in Uvalde in 1958 who preceded him in death in 1996. David and family lived in Brownwood for many years where he owned a Texaco Service Station, then Exxon, and later worked for Auto Zone. He was a Mason and a Christian who was proud of going on a three–day Emmaus Walk to strengthen his faith. He was a family man, and they made many happy memories on Lake Brownwood.

In 2001 David married Reba Theus Cross in Alpine, Texas where they lived for 20 years until health concerns took them to Meadowlakes, near Marble Falls in 2021. Dave and Reba had been classmates in high school, and remet 40 years later at a reunion. In Alpine he was active in the First Baptist Church where he proudly served as a deacon. They delighted in hosting Grandparents Summer Camp when their grandkids were young, and enjoyed making trips in a much–loved camper where he fished on all lakes and rivers where they stopped.

David was an active 20+ year member of the Texas Mountain Trail Writers. He was an avid reader of Texas history and published an article about Indian fighter and U.S. Army scout, Henry Skillman, first stagecoach driver on the Santa Fe Trail. David presented this article at the 2004 Conference for Big Bend Studies at Sul Ross State University in Alpine. Another passion was researching Seals family genealogy back to their ancestral families in England with whom he corresponded.

They especially enjoyed Easter and Thanksgiving holidays with the extended Seals family at the Seals campground in Oakville on the Nueces River.

The family is grateful to Granite Mesa Health Center for their excellent therapy, competent care, and love for each individual in their facility. A memorial service for David will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 11:00 am at Jenkins Springs Cemetery with Bill Slaymaker officiating.
