HOOPS ROUNDUP: Lady Horns tally first district win; May boys, girls collect victories

EARLY – The Early Lady Horns tallied their first District 8-3A victory of the season Friday night, knocking off the Dublin Lady Lions, 48-37.

The Lady Horns led 13-11 after one period, 33-17 at halftime, and 42-26 heading into the fourth quarter.

Early received 18 points from Dakota Barksdale, 13 from Jamie Vasser, 10 from Lindsey Bastardo, five from Gabby Benson, and one point each from Cali Vargas and Pearl Sharp.

The Lady Horns (1-1 in district) visit Brock at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

May Lady Tigers 39, Menard, 35

MAY – The May Lady Tigers improved to 13-3 on the season with a 39-35 home victory over Menard Friday night.

May led 6-2 after one quarter, 16-11 at halftime, and 26-24 heading into the fourth period.

Jordyn Gerhardt led May with 15 points trailed by eight each from Mia Musick and Kenleigh Williford, five from McKenna Landes and three from Chloe Lord.

The Lady Tigers are off until the TexasBank Holiday Classic in Brownwood tips off Dec. 27.

May Tigers 64, San Saba 55

MAY – The May Tigers moved to 10-2 on the season with a 64-55 home win over the San Saba Armadillos Friday night.

May led 18-0 after one quarter, 34-14 at halftime, and 56-30 after three periods.

Ben Harrell scored a game-high 29 points for the Tigers trailed by Zack Martin with 12, Mikey Scheriger with seven, Kaden Watkins with six, JD White with four

and Wyatt Hardy and Ryland Billadeau with two points.

San Saba was sparked by 27 points from Levi Glover.

The Tigers’ next action comes Dec. 27 at the TexasBank Holiday Classic in Brownwood.

Wall 35, Early Longhorns 29

EARLY – The Early Longhorns came up short in their non-district home encounter with the Wall Hawks, 35-29, Friday night.

The Longhorns trailed 13-7 after one quarter, 25-19 at intermission, and 31-27 going into the fourth period.

Kamden Gamblin, Will Prochaska and Dalton Adams scored five points each for the Longhorns followed by Andrew Caten, Rohyn Price, and Jacob McDaniel with four each, and Weston Barton with two points.

Early opens District 8-3A action at Brock at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
