Longhorns earn 24 postseason football honors in District 2-3A Division II

The District 2-3A Division II runner-up Early Longhorns received 24 postseason accolades from the coaches of the league.

Named Lineman of the Year in the district was Dalton Adams, who helped paved the way for an offense that averaged 30 points and 380 yards per game, while amassing 74 tackles, including 20 for loss, with nine sacks.

The league’s Utility Player of the year was Griffin Cheslock, who rushed for 1,255 yards and 16 touchdowns; caught eight passes for 54 yards; and finished with 19 tackles, including two for loss, along with one sack and one interception.

Newcomer of the Year in district was Andrew Reedy, who recorded 52 catches for 860 yards with eight touchdowns, while collecting 37 tackles and four interceptions on defense.

Landing on the first-team offense were quarterback Rohyn Price (2,004 passing yards, 20 TDs, 11 INTs; 315 rushing yards, 6 TDs), receiver Ki Houston (32 catches for 668 yards, 4 TDs), receiver Reece Middleton (18 catches for 258 yards, 3 TDs), center Brooks Clippinger, guard Ethan Moseley, and tackle Jacob Braun.

Making the first-team defense were Price (30 tackles, 3 for loss, 1 sack, 2 INTs) at outside linebacker, Houston (31 tackles, 1 INT) at cornerback, Clippinger (56 tackles, 7 for loss, 2 sacks, 4 fumble recoveries) at defensive tackle, defensive tackle Izik Delgado (46 tackles, 8 for loss, 1 sack, 1 fumble recovery), defensive end Dylan Brame (23 tackles, 1 for loss), and inside linebacker Kaleb Ozuna (105 tackles, 7 for loss, 3 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries).

On the second-team offense were receiver Weston Barton (37 catches for 503 yards, 4 TDs) and Houston at kicker.

Second-team defensive selections were Kaeden Byrd (50 tackles, 6 for loss, 2 sacks, 1 interception) at outside linebacker, Middleton (51 tackles) at safety and Houston at punter.

Receiving honorable mention were Jacob McDaniel (6 tackles, INT) in the secondary, Giovanni Guevara (25 tackles, 2 for loss, 1 fumble recovery) on the defensive line, Ben Bleth (5 catches for 83 yards, 2 TDs) at fullback, and Rico Vasquez along the offensive line.

The Longhorns finished the season with a 6-6 record and a third-straight bi-district title under fourth-year head coach Daniel Price.
