Leroy Turvaville

Funeral services for Leroy Turvaville, age 91, of Harker Heights, formerly of Brownwood, will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 11, 2023, in the chapel of Heartland Funeral Home with Pastor Philip Scott officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

Leroy passed from this life on Friday, December 8, 2023, in the William R. Courtney State Home for Veterans in Temple.

Vernon Leroy Turvaville was born in Headrick, Oklahoma on January 4, 1932.  Leroy as he was known to his friends, moved to Littlefield, Texas as a child, where he met and married his wife Anita on July 16, 1952.  He was a graduate of Littlefield High School.  Leroy served in the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran.  In September of 1975, he and Anita moved to Brownwood, where he went to work for Rotocast Plastics as a machine operator and supervisor.  He later went to work for McDonalds of Brownwood in the maintenance department.  Leroy was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Early.  In November of 2017, he moved to Harker Heights to live with his daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Mike Wilson.

Leroy is survived by his daughter, Teresa and husband Mike Wilson of Harker Heights, a grandson, Christopher Sonberg and wife Kendra Thomas, a great-granddaughter, Lena Sonberg and great-grandson, Bryden DeHaven of Driftwood, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Turvaville, a daughter, Pamela Turvaville, his parents, Francis and Roland Turvaville, a brother, Earl Turvaville, and three sisters, Flo0rence Dunn, Elsie Aaron, and Barbara Olgesby.
