Peggy Hitchcock, age 81 of Brownwood passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023, in Brownwood.

Funeral Services for Peggy Hitchcock will be held Monday, December 11, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church in Brownwood, Texas with Pastor Art Woodcox officiating. A visitation will be held Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, Texas.

Peggy June Hitchcock was born on January 27, 1942, to Herman and Ruby Hinesly in Brownwood, Texas. She attended Brooksmith Elementary School, Woodland Heights Elementary School, and Brownwood High School. She married Gene Tom Hitchcock on May 3, 1958, and they celebrated 67 years of marriage. Peggy’s primary career was 37 years with JC Penney’s in both Brownwood, Texas and Carlsbad, New Mexico. Peggy was a loving mother and grandmother.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Gene Tom Hitchcock; sister, Maxine Modawell; 3 sons, Mike Hitchcock and his wife Ivy, Don Hitchcock and his wife Shawna, and Jerry Hitchcock and his wife Carol; son-in-law, J.R. Worden; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman, and Ruby Hinesly; daughter, Christine Ann Worden; sister, Betty, and brother-in-law Tom George; brother-in-law, Richard Modawell.

Peggy requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Heart Association.
