The Brownwood Police Department issued the following public service announcement on Facebook Friday in the wake of numerous vehicle burglaries and thefts:
A recent rash of vehicle burglaries/thefts has our heads spinning. Most notably, people are leaving their vehicles unlocked through the night and leaving firearms inside the vehicle. As great as our community is, thieves do live amongst us.
When you exit your vehicle leave nothing of value visible. TAKE your valuables and LOCK your doors. Leave the criminal no reason to stop at your vehicle.
