Lyndol Dale Smith

L.D. “Snuffy” Smith, 78, of Wingate, passed away on Monday, November 13th, 2023 in Coleman.

Snuffy, as he was known by his friends, was born in Brownwood, TX to Clarence and Earlene Smith on November 21st, 1944. The family moved to Abilene shortly after where he and his brothers were raised and attended school. He served in the United States Marine Corps. Snuffy was a carpenter, welder and salesman. For many years he made a living owning and running a café and doing landscape work for several Cemeteries in the area. Snuffy was fascinated by weather, and served as a volunteer with the National Weather Service Cooperative Observer Program for many years.

Snuffy Smith was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, J.D. Smith of Hawley, TX and Don Smith of Abilene, TX.

He is survived by 5 children, three Sons, Anthony Smith and wife Lorri of Coleman, Benjamin Smith and wife Nicole of Lucas and John Smith and wife Heather of Hughes Springs. Two daughters, Melanie Smith and Husband Scott of Ft. Worth and Melissa Smith of McKinney. 11 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren as well as numerous Nieces, Nephews and friends.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Dr’s and nurses of Hendricks Hospice care and to his favorite neighbor, Amy Grant.

A Memorial service will be held at a later date.

Services entrusted to Brownwood Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at brownwoodfuneralhome.net
