Brownwood ISD issued the following information Monday:

This month’s spotlight teacher is Crystal Blazek. Coach Blazek is a Physical Education teacher and Head Tennis coach at Brownwood High School. She is a state-certified teacher (P.E. EC-12) and holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Exercise and Sports Studies from Tarleton State University.

Coach Blazek has been with Brownwood ISD (BISD) since 2015. Coach Blazek has a real heart for the students and athletes she works with at all levels. She always has a smile on her face and is willing to help with anything from running a bus route that needs a driver after school to helping find clothing for a child that is lacking in that area. She has a great attitude at all times, yet demands respect and hard work from her athletes and they are happy to give it. Coach Blazek is not only a great coach, but she is always available to her players and other coaches for anything they might need. She goes above and beyond to be a mentor, a friend, and teaches responsibility as well as manners and respect.

BISD is blessed to have Coach Blazek, and we are proud to recognize her dedication to our students and her continued success as a teacher and coach.

Our staff spotlight honoree for the month is Dusty Wilson. Ms. Wilson is the Digital Media Specialist at East Elementary. She is a state-certified educational aide and has studied Elementary Education at Texas Tech University and Howard Payne University. She first served as a teaching assistant at East before moving into her current position in the library in 2017. Ms. Wilson has been with BISD since 2014.

Ms. Wilson is such an asset for East Elementary. Her decorations make the library inviting and she dedicates extra time and resources to ensure it is top notch. Ms. Wilson makes reading books fun and with her awesome themes she transforms the library into an experience that students look forward to each day. She organizes several book fairs and has created reading areas in the library for students to enjoy. Ms. Wilson works with teachers to find books that they could use to enhance their lessons and is always willing to help with covering classes, the office, or any other area. East Elementary is blessed to have her!

We are grateful to have resourceful and creative staff like Ms. Wilson who routinely use their gifts and talents to go the extra mile while supporting teachers and enhancing the joy of reading for our students.
