Vivian J. Thomas

Vivian Jeannine Thomas, 84, of Bangs, Texas passed away November 8, 2023. A visitation will be held with the family at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 2:00 PM with interment to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park with Pastor Steve Granadosin officiating.

Vivian was born December 15, 1938 in El Paso, Texas to Jack and Jennie McDaniel. She graduated from Ysleta High School and married James “Jim” W. Rogers in 1956. James and Vivian were blessed with two sons, Jimmy and Randy before James’s untimely passing of kidney disease in August of 1959. Through a friend, Vivian met Harold Thomas and they were married June 22, 1968 and blessed with two children, Ann and Lance. Vivian and Harold lived in various areas, El Paso, Tularosa, New Mexico where they started a thriving Pecan farm still in operation today, Alamogordo, NM, Atlanta, Texas but settled in Bangs, Texas in 1992. They were members of the Methodist Church in Bangs for over 30 years. Harold and Vivian started the Portable Buildings of Central Texas in Early in 1993 and later moved the business to Bangs. Vivian was a homemaker, bookkeeper, entrepreneur with Harold and sometimes worked as a substitute teacher. She loved making crafts and was always excited to try and make something new and different. Vivian played the harmonica and would pick out and play songs by ear. Vivian loved to dance and loved her family with all her heart.

Vivian is survived by her daughter, Ann Reeder and husband Mikel of Bangs; sons, Randy Rogers and wife Barbara of Edgewood, NM & Lance Thomas of Austin, Texas; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and many church family members and friends.

Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Thomas; her first husband, Jim Rogers; and her eldest son, Jimmy Rogers.
