Brownwood ISD (BISD) wrapped up a successful Pink-Out fundraiser at the home football game against Andrews on Friday, October 27, with generous donations from Big Country Ford Lincoln.

Thomas Scull, General Manager of Big Country Ford Lincoln, and Jennifer Perkins, Office Manager, presented two oversized $5,000 checks to Brownwood ISD (BISD) Superintendent Dr. Joe Young before the game at Gordon Wood Stadium. This year cancer hit the Big Country Ford family and they honored their longtime salesman, Nacho Molina, who lost his battle with cancer in June, with an additional $5,000 donation.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and BISD supports the cause each year by designating a “Pink-Out” day. A custom-made “TEAM UP FOR A CURE” t-shirt was designed and sold by the district as a part of the fundraising effort. Faculty, staff, and students within the district, in addition to many community members, wore the Pink-Out shirt throughout the day and at the game to increase awareness and raise money for local families fighting cancer.

Over $12,000 was raised through the event which concluded with a Brownwood Lions victory over the Andrews Mustangs. This year is the 12th anniversary of the Pink-Out fundraiser, which has now raised over $137,000 over the years due to the incredible support by BISD students, staff, teachers, and the Brownwood community.
