Donald Hicks Sauls

Donald Hicks Sauls, 82, of Lohn, Texas passed away Monday, October 30, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 4, 2023 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Slaymaker officiating.

Don was born December 24, 1940 in Waco, Texas to Thurman and Clara Mae (Posey) Sauls. He attended high school in Denton, Texas and his father became very ill when Don was in the 11th grade. Don started working as a welder to help support his family. He developed his skills as a welder throughout his life from building rail cars to pipeline work. He married his high school sweetheart, Saundra and had one daughter, Janet. He later married his wife of 52 years, Christina on February 18th, 1967 in Reno, Nevada. Christina had three children, Laura Debbie and Tina. Together they had two children, Joyce and Eric merging into one large happy family. Don loved spending time with family and friends. He had a knack for fixing just about anything and was always quick to help anyone in need. Don loved to go hunting and fishing, but his best days lately were spent on a tractor.

Don is survived by his son, Eric Sauls and wife Taryn of Bangs; daughters, Joyce Needum and husband Sean of Aubrey, Texas, Janet Smith and husband Greg of Yucca Valley, CA, Tina Brown of Las Vegas, NV, Debbie Gurule and husband Larry of Cuba, NM and Laura Schneider and husband Ron of Sanger, Tx; 17 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren and many friends.

Don was preceded in death by his wife, Christina (Thovsen) Sauls; brother, Thurman Posey Sauls; mother, Clara Mae Sauls; and father, Thurman Hicks Sauls.
