On Thursday, Oct. 19, Chick-fil-A partnered with the Brown County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office and Coggin Elementary PE to support their “Healthy School Recognized Campus” program. Healthy Texas Youth Ambassador Emalee Parrott and Brown County Youth Ambassador Cate Smith led the lesson. They talked to students about the steps to a healthy bedtime routine, which include turning off all electronics, brushing your teeth, taking a shower, putting your pajamas on, and reading a book. They also spoke about how all kids should have between 8-10 hours of sleep per night to stay healthy and grow strong.

Local Chick-fil-A representatives Mr. and Mrs. Jones (owners) and Mrs. Badgely accompanied the Chick-fil-A Cow to help read a book and give a ton of high fives and hugs. “All ages were excited to see their favorite cow interact with them regarding the importance of a good bedtime routine and getting enough sleep every night,” stated Coggin PE teacher Stefenia Phipps. “In addition, Chick-fil-A generously provided every 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grader at Coggin a free kid’s meal card. We are so thankful for their continual support of BISD programs.”

Hendrick Medical Center also provided the students with blue orby eye masks. “The kids were excited to use them at bedtime and couldn’t wait to take them home,” added Phipps. “It was a great day of fun. I loved seeing the kid’s excited faces and hearing their screams when the Cow came out to greet them. I am grateful for our Brownwood community and the amazing outreach that our businesses provide. They are helping build a strong foundation in our students.”
