Wanda Dyer

Wanda D. Dyer, 91, of Brownwood, Texas passed away Monday, September 25, 2023. Visitation with family will be held at Heartland Funeral Home from 3:00 – 5:00 PM, Sunday, October 1, 2023. A graveside service will be held in the Fairview Cemetery, Grosvenor, Texas under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 2, 2023 with James Glasscock officiating.

Wanda was born on November 20, 1931 to John Clevie and Minnie Dickerson in a farm house in Holder, Brown County, Texas. Wanda had three sisters, Novelle, Christeen, Alta and a brother, John Dee Dickerson and Darlene. She graduated High School at the Williams school in Brown County. Wanda married Leroy Dyer on June 21, 1950 in Brownwood and they began a life together that blessed them with 5 children. Wanda was a homemaker and enjoyed her career all through the lives of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was involved in all their lives and doted on them often. Wanda enjoyed crochet, making Afghans and baby blankets. She was a member at the Early Church of Christ where she taught Tuesday school for over 20 years and loved making quilts with the ladies at the church.

Wanda is survived by her son, Johnny Dyer; daughters, Pam Ellis, Mary Hales and husband, Kenny; grandchildren, Rocky Dyer and wife, Tammy, Ryan Ellis, Ashley Ellis, Rusty Ellis, April Hales, Logan Hales, Cameron Dyer and Erin Dyer; 8 great grandchildren, J.S. and Justin Dyer, Mason Ellis, Hayden Lambert, Rylan Ellis, Autumn Ellis, Charlie and Case Tobin; 6 great-great grandchildren, Jaxon Bailey, Reagan and Lincoln, Mason, Dimitri, Xavri Dyer; her special friend, Brenda Bosecker; and her many nieces, nephews, church family, and by many adopted loved ones.

Wanda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leroy Dyer; sons, Gary and Jimmy Dyer; son-in-law, Mike Ellis; and her sisters, Novelle, Christeen & Alta.
