The Texas Department of Public Safety issued the following press release Saturday night:

On Friday, September 22 at around 7 p.m., the Coleman Police Department (CPD) responded to a call of shots fired at the Coleman RV Park located in the 1400 block of US Highway 84.

Officers responded and discovered a deceased male victim with apparent gunshot wounds. The murder suspect had fled from the scene before police arrived. After a brief investigation, police located the suspect, and he was taken into custody without incident.

The victim of the shooting was identified as James Slayton, 42 years of age, a male from Coleman.

The murder suspect was identified as Seth Savage Slayton, 30 years of age, a male from Ballinger.

Seth Slayton was booked into the Coleman County jail for murder. The Texas Rangers were called and are assisting in this investigation.
