Brownwood tennis comes up short at district foe Lampasas, 12-7

LAMPASAS – The Brownwood High tennis team was dealt its first District 6-4A setback Thursday, dropping a 12-7 road match to Lampasas.

Brownwood picked up a win in mixed doubles from Trine Baugh and Ihana Figueroa (6-4, 3-6, 10-2 over Clements and Guzman), and the Lions added two victories in doubles action from No. 1 River Prado and Tyler Mitchell (3-6, 6-3, 10-3 over Ashfield and Copeland), and No. 3 Caleb Dietlin and Blake Hutchins (6-4, 7-5 over Ecker and Pronovost).

Collecting singles wins for the Lions were No. 1 Prado (6-0, 6-2 over Ashfield) and No. 4 Dietlin (default over Copeland), while Lady Lions bringing home single victories were No. 4 Ashlyn Bundick (6-4, 6-2 over Hodges) and No. 6 Anna Daniel (2-6, 6-3, 10-7 over Carmack).

The Lions and Lady Lions (9-4, 1-1) will return to 6-4A action at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28 when they host Gatesville. Brownwood’s final of four district matches will take place Thursday, Oct. 5 at home against Stephenville.
