Mary Irene Chancellor, 81, of Comanche, passed from this life Wednesday September 6, 2023. The family will gather with friends for a visitation 2 – 4 p.m. Saturday September 9, 2023, at Heartland Funeral and Cremations of Comanche. There are no other services planned for Mary. Mary Irene Abbey was born October 31, 1941, to E. W. (Dub) and Fannie (Clawson) Abbey in San Antonio, TX. She attended and graduated from high school in Haskell, TX. She met Jessie Chancellor at a young age in Comanche when her family came to visit relatives living here. After Jessie completed his military service, Mary and Jessie were married in Comanche January 27, 1962. Mary was a homemaker, an Emergency Medical Technician, worked with the Red Cross, was a member of the Newcomer’s Club and Square Dancers, and a member of the Shepherd’s Chapel Church.

Mary is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jessie Chancellor; daughters, Patricia Renee Kennedy and husband Michael, and Mary Beth Mazurek and husband Wayne; sons, Tim Chancellor and wife Tammy, and Michael Chancellor and wife Crystal; grandchildren, Jason Smith, Melissa Kennedy, Kameron Mazurek and wife Bridget, Carly (Mazurek) Banwart & husband Nick, Brandon Chancellor and wife Elizabeth, Dalton Chancellor and fiancé Kameron Smith, Jayden Chancellor, and Corbin Chancellor; brother, Gene Abbey and wife Pat. She was preceded in death by parents, E W (Dub) and Fannie Abbey; brother, Franklin Abbey, grandson, Joshua Mazurek.
