The American Southwest Conference on Tuesday announced its week one volleyball awards and Howard Payne University outside hitter Brylee Awbrey was recognized as the ASC Defensive Player of the Week.

Howard Payne junior outside hitter Brylee Awbrey (Midland, Texas) recorded 35 kills, four aces, 55 digs, and six blocks in four games this past weekend. Awbrey helped lead the Lady Jackets to a 4-0 record, marking their best start since 2013. Awbrey had 15 kills, two aces, 18 digs, and two blocks helping HPU come back from 0-2 versus Rhodes College to win in five sets.
